MARTIN COUNTY, Texas — A truck driver from Hialeah died Tuesday morning in west Texas after jumping from his own semi, authorities in the Lone Star State said.
Citing the Texas Department of Public Safety, Midland, Texas ABC affiliate KMID reports that Osvaldo Fernandez, 39, was driving on a rural road in Martin County when he jumped out of his 2017 Peterbilt while in motion, pulling a trailer.
He was killed after being run over by the rear axles of the trailer, the station reports. Authorities said it wasn’t clear why he jumped.
Fernandez was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities in Texas are investigating the crash.
