MIAMI – A Miami staple is celebrating a big anniversary on the 4th of July.

The ice cream shop at 1407 Sunset Drive will be offering discounts all day to celebrate its 40th birthday.

The shop will also offer face painting, raffles and will host the King of the Storm eating contest.

This challenge has nine scoops of ice cream, nine toppings, hot fudge and whipped Cream. The winner of Storm King will be given a personalized plaque above all others on the CAT9 wall and a second plaque for themselves.

This plaque can return with the champion every 4th of July for free ice cream.

According to a media release, Whip n Dip is a family-owned business that opened in 1985 on the 4th of July by George Giampetro Sr.

Four generations of Giampetro’s have worked at the store, making ice cream daily.
