MIAMI – For 100 years, one of Miami’s most iconic landmarks has stood as a silent witness to the city’s history — and the lives forever changed within its walls.
Local 10 is shining a spotlight on the Freedom Tower in a special presentation that takes viewers inside its powerful past, cultural significance and the efforts to preserve it for future generations.
Often referred to as the “Ellis Island of the South,” the Freedom Tower served as a processing center for Cuban exiles fleeing Fidel Castro’s regime in the 1960s and has since become a lasting symbol of freedom, hope and resilience in South Florida.
As it prepares to reopen its doors after restoration, the building’s century-long story is being revisited and honored in a way only Local 10 can.
