MIAMI – A jobless man appeared in Miami-Dade County court on Tuesday after confessing to police that he had stolen from a homeless man in Tamiami, Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies’ records show.
The victim reported that the driver of a station wagon approached him early Monday morning on the back of a Fresco y Más supermarket near Eighth Street, according to a M-DCSO deputy’s arrest report.

The victim reported that the bearded driver, who police officers later identified as Nelson Leon, was aggressive when he accused him of having thrown something at his station wagon at about 4 a.m., according to the report.
Leon, 39, got out of the station wagon armed with a tool, and he took the victim’s bicycle and put it in his trunk at the Interplaza Shopping Center, near Southwest 122 Avenue, according to the arrest report.
Before fleeing, Leon got back in his station wagon and “drove toward the victim [and caused] the victim to run into a tree, causing pain on his left side,” a deputy wrote in the arrest report.
The victim took a picture of the station wagon’s tag and called police officers, who found Leon minutes later nearby and recovered the stolen bicycle, according to the report.
County court records showed on Tuesday afternoon that Leon, who has an arrest record that includes marijuana and cocaine possession charges, had two pending felony cases with Circuit Judge Alberto Milian.
Court records show prosecutors filed a case against Leon for criminal mischief on July 2 after M-DCSO deputies arrested him on July 1, and a case for armed robbery on Tuesday after his arrest after the homeless man’s report on Monday.
County inmate records showed corrections held Leon without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
