FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Fort Lauderdale police announced two arrests in connection with the 2022 murder of a man at a since-demolished food store in the city.
The suspects arrested in the shooting death of Steven Black are a brother and a sister: accused killer Warren Pollock, 24, of Hephzibah, Georgia, and alleged accessory Wanisha Pollock, 29, of Lauderhill.
The shooting happened on March 13, 2022 at Tony’s Market at 800 NW 22nd Road.
Surveillance video shows Black, 34, standing by the store’s door when the gunman walks in. Moments later, the suspect turns around, pulls out a gun and points it at Black, shooting him from point-blank range and fleeing.
According to Wanisha Pollock’s arrest warrant, license plate reader data from the getaway vehicle, a Nissan Altima, came back to her.
In the warrant, police said the shooting was an act of revenge after Black had been involved in a battery incident in Lauderhill earlier that day.
Police said when officers interviewed Wanisha Pollock and asked her who was driving on March 13, she said, “I was driving my car, nobody drives my car.”
Authorities arrested Warren Pollock in Augusta, Georgia on July 8 on a warrant for first-degree murder.
Wanisha Pollock was arrested on July 10 and is facing an accessory after the fact charge. Broward Sheriff’s Office records show she was released Wednesday after posting a $20,000 bond.
Meanwhile, Warren Pollock remained in the Richmond County, Georgia jail as of Thursday, awaiting extradition to South Florida.
