OKLAHOMA CITY — Body camera video obtained by Local 10 News shows the arrest of an Oklahoma pediatrician accused of killing her young daughter while vacationing in South Florida and staging her death as a drowning.
The video, released Wednesday by the Oklahoma City Police Department, shows its officers, along with U.S. Marshals, arresting Dr. Neha Gupta at her home in the Sooner State on July 1.
Afternoon report:
The clips show Marshals breaching her door and commanding Gupta to surrender.
“Neha Gupta, come to the front door. Do it now,” one of the Marshals yells. “U.S. Marshals. We have a warrant for your arrest. Come to the front door. Do it now.”
Gupta, 36, is accused of killing her 4-year-old daughter, Aria Talathi, at short-term rental home at 156 NW 90th St. in El Portal on June 27.

Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies said the former University of Oklahoma physician claimed she woke up to find Aria floating in the backyard pool and attempted to help her daughter for about 10 minutes before calling 911, despite not knowing how to swim.
But investigators said an autopsy revealed there was no water in the child’s lungs or stomach, ruling out drowning, and were instead injuries inside the girl’s mouth that were consistent with smothering.
The girl’s father, Dr. Saurabh Talathi, told investigators he was unaware Gupta had taken their daughter out of state.
He had been seeking full custody and, according to Oklahoma court records, had raised concerns over Gupta’s mental health.
After retaining an attorney in South Florida, Gupta flew back to Oklahoma City, where she would be arrested and later extradited back to Miami-Dade County to face a first-degree murder charge.
Gupta’s attorneys have called Aria’s death “a tragic accident” and have criticized MDSO for “rush(ing) to judgment” and arresting a “grieving mother” who they say is innocent.
Gupta remained in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as of Wednesday, where she was being held without bond.
