Surveillance video captures fatal shooting at Hialeah apartment complex

HIALEAH, Fla. — Surveillance video captured a fatal shooting at a Hialeah apartment complex following a parking spot dispute.

Authorities released video this week from the suspect’s own security system.

The video shows Pedro Blanco, 55, pulling the trigger on the victim, Yeondris Campos, 33, back on May 13.

Police say Campos parked his car at an apartment complex near the intersection of Northwest 62nd Street and East Seventh Avenue, then made his way up to a unit.

Minutes later, Blanco is seen walking out of his apartment, carrying a gun wrapped in a plastic bag.

Police said he then knocked on the door to Campos’ friend’s apartment. Campos and another person went to the door and Blanco fired one shot, killing Campos, police said.

Campos’ friends and family members were seen in tears that day following the news of his death.

They believe Campos was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time, as Hialeah police detectives say he was just visiting a friend in that unit.

Blanco has been charged with first-degree murder and remains in jail without bond.

His trial is set to begin Sept. 15.
