MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A 40-year-old man who was accused of sexually abusing girls he preyed on while working as a gymnastics coach accepted a plea deal from Miami-Dade County prosecutors on Thursday.
Oscar Olea taught at the Key Biscayne Community Church, the Key Biscayne Presbyterian School’s Crossbridge Church campus, and the Village of Key Biscayne Community Center.
Olea, who also taught at other schools in Miami-Dade, pleaded guilty to four charges: Two counts of lewd and lascivious battery or sexual activity with a minor and two counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor.
Olea was arrested after he surrendered to police on Feb. 28, 2024. He was accused of abusing two victims in 2009 and 2012, records show. Detectives believe there may be other victims.
Olea’s sentencing hearing is pending. According to the agreement, he will serve 12 years in prison and 10 years of probation after his release. Florida law requires him to register as a sex offender.
Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477 to remain anonymous.
