MIAMI — A 24-year-old Miami man is facing four felony charges after police said he stole a woman’s muscle car so he could use it at street takeovers.
The victim, police said, saw her blue Dodge Challenger Scat Pack performing “drifting, doughnuts (and) burnouts” in YouTube and Instagram videos that documented illegal street takeovers in Hialeah.
Authorities said in one instance, suspect Joshua Dalmond handed the car over to another man, who proceeded to hit a woman in the street.
Dalmond, of Liberty City, is accused of stealing the Dodge from a parking garage at 850 NE Second Ave. in downtown Miami just before 11:30 p.m. on July 4.
GPS data showed the car at the Hialeah street takeovers and at Dalmond’s home in the 1100 block of Northwest 50th Street, according to an arrest report.
A Miami police detective wrote that he “had previously investigated” Dalmond’s home in January 2024 “for having a Dodge Charger with stolen parts attached.”
“Mr. Dalmond also previously had a Dodge Charger stolen from Pembroke Pines in the driveway of his registered address,” the report states.
Meanwhile, on July 10, Hialeah police recovered the Challenger at East Seventh Avenue and 26th Street, authorities said. It had “extensive damage to the driver and rear passenger doors.”
Police said Dalmond surrendered himself at the Miami Police Department’s headquarters on Wednesday and declined to speak with officers.
Facing charges including grand theft, burglary, drag racing and dealing in stolen property, jail records show that Dalmond was being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a bond of more than $17,500.
Records show if released, he’ll be on house arrest.
