Lexus meets spike strips in Keys high-speed chase, drunken driver jailed, cops say

BIG PINE KEY, Fla. — A Fort Lauderdale woman is facing multiple charges in the Florida Keys after deputies said she led them on a high-speed chase on U.S. 1 on Saturday.

Monroe County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Adam Linhardt said multiple 911 callers reported that Lianet Rodriguez, 35, was "driving into oncoming traffic and passing on the shoulder" in a Lexus SUV near mile marker 21 on Cudjoe Key.

She then fled a pursuing deputy at more than 80 mph before deputies laid down a spike strip and punctured her tires at mile marker 32 on Big Pine Key, authorities said.

Deputies took her into custody on charges of DUI, fleeing and eluding and reckless driving.

MCSO records show she remained in the agency’s Key West jail facility Sunday on a $105,000 bond.
