MIAMI — Miami police are investigating after a boy was shot Tuesday afternoon.

It happened at approximately 4:38 p.m. in the area of North Miami Avenue and 31st Street in the city’s Wynwood neighborhood.

5 p.m. report:

Boy rushed to hospital by family member after Miami shooting

According to police, officers received a call regarding a boy who was shot and rushed to the scene.

Police said a family member took him to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, and that the incident may be related to domestic violence in some way.

Officials have since provided an update, saying the boy is 13 or 14 years old and that he is being listed in stable condition.

Authorities said one person has been detained, but did not say whether he or she would be charged.

An investigation into the shooting remains open and active.
