A Local 10 News crew was in the area of Northwest 79th Street and 21st Avenue at about 6 a.m. after Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies had blocked off an area stretching from the Regency Pointe Apartments to a Church’s Texas Chicken parking lot.

According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the area of Northwest 19th Avenue and 79th Street at about 4 a.m. after receiving a ShotSpotter alert and found three men suffering from gunshot wounds.

Deputies said they later discovered that two Black males had tried to rob a security guard and there was an exchange of gunfire, during which time the security guard and the alleged robbers were struck.

Alberto Nolasco, who lives in the area, told Local 10’s Linnie Supall that he heard about 12 gunshots.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews transported all three men to a local hospital in stable condition.

MDSO robbery detectives have assumed the investigation.

The identities of those involved in the shootout have not yet been released.
