FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — The 15-year-old charged with his older brother’s murder looked emotionless as he sat in a courtroom Thursday, waiting for a judge to call his name.

An attorney would speak on Demetre Fleurimond’s behalf as a state prosecutor requested the judge to hold Fleuirmond for 21 days.

That request was granted.

The teen is accused of shooting and killing his 23-year-old brother, Kevin Dominique, then dumping his body three minutes away from their house near a canal off Ocean Waterway Boulevard and Old Griffin Road in Dania Beach.

The boys’ mother told Local 10 News on Wednesday that she believes they had a dispute about chores.

“Sunday morning when I came back, I saw the kitchen tiles were clean,” said Marie Jeanty. “I said, I know you did it, but Kevin must’ve asked you to do it. He said yes I did it. Kevin told me to do it. I believe that made him mad.”

During Thursday’s hearing, the public defender withdrew herself from representing Fleuimond.

He is expected back in court next month.
