MIAMI — Knaus Berry Farm, a South Florida staple known for its cinnamon buns, milkshakes and fresh produce, will start a new chapter this fall under new ownership at a larger location just a few miles from its original Homestead site.

The Knaus family, who have operated the farm since 1956, will stay involved as consultants to help maintain the bakery’s recipes and quality.

Longtime General Manager Thomas Blocher will serve as a kitchen consultant, and all existing staff are expected to be offered jobs at the new site.

“The Knaus family is beyond grateful for all the years of loyal support from the community of South Florida and beyond!” Blocher said in a news release on Friday. “The tradition will continue in capable new hands, and we look forward to future generations enjoying the simple pleasures that made Knaus Berry Farm a popular destination for so many.”

The new location, at 16790 SW 177th Ave., will operate seasonally with a late fall opening and, for the first time, will be open on Sundays and accept credit cards.

Joel White, one of the new co-owners, said the goal is to keep the farm’s classic offerings unchanged.

“We will be using the same recipes, bakery equipment, and techniques. Even the water will have the same pH to ensure the product is delivered to our customers just as they know and love,” White said. He added that a new oven may help reduce the long lines for the bakery’s signature cinnamon rolls.

The property belongs to Sam S. Accursio & Sons Farms, whose family has been farming in South Florida for nearly 70 years.

The new Knaus Berry Farm will use produce from the site, including green beans, squash, okra, pickling cucumbers, tomatoes, strawberries and watermelon. U-pick strawberries are planned in the near future.

Customers can follow KnausBerryFarm on Instagram for updates on the opening date. The farm’s legendary cinnamon buns and other baked goods are expected to remain exactly as fans remember.

Directions to the new site from there: go west on Coconut Palm Drive to Krome Avenue (SR 997), then north to Southwest 168th Street.
