CUTLER BAY, Fla. — Deputies with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office are investigating a shooting that they said left a man dead and another individual detained in Cutler Bay on Wednesday.
The shooting was reported near the intersection of Southwest 97th Avenue and 184th Street.
Arriving deputies found a man with an apparent gunshot wound and detained another man, “who will speak with investigators to determine his involvement,” an MDSO spokesperson said.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said medics transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators said MDSO’s homicide detectives will lead the investigation.
Quelling any concerns that may have stemmed from a deadly mass shooting at a Catholic school in Minneapolis on Wednesday, authorities noted that the incident was not connected to the nearby Holy Rosary Catholic Church and School.
No other details about the deceased victim and the other individual involved were immediately released.
