Valet charged with grand theft for taking off in someone's car

MIAMI — Police arrested a valet attendant after they said he took a car that wasn’t his for a spin, and it was caught on camera by the vehicle’s owner.

Video released by the State Attorney’s Office shows the valet attendant, identified as 23-year-old Augusto Cesar Sandino Troz behind the wheel of a black Audi back in June.

It happened at a condo building off Southwest Seventh Street in Brickell.

In the video, the owner was irate, telling Troz to get out of the car.

According to police, after the victim dropped off his car and keys at the valet stand, Troz didn’t park the car, instead speeding out onto the road.

The victim was on his way up to his home when he saw his car speed away from where he left it.

He told police Troz almost hit a building with his car before stopping.

Troz was arrested and charged with grand theft.
