MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A woman who was wanted in connection with a murder in South Florida has been taken into custody.
Miami-Dade homicide detectives have arrested Ariely Alvarez Cabrera, one of the pair of suspects wanted for the murder of Daylon Fleitas Gonzalez, who was from Hialeah.
“No man deserves that, especially at 37 years old,” Michael Barruetabena, who knew the victim, said.
Detectives say the victim was last seen meeting with Alfredo Carballo Gonzalez on Aug. 3, and the victim’s body was later found in a recycling bin.
Barruetabena told Local 10 News that his mother and the victim dated for a year.
“He would always be kind and generous,” Barruetabena said. “When I wanted to get my first car, he was like, ‘I’ll help you. I’ll help you.’ He barely knew me. He was with my mom 4 months at the time.”
Cabrera, Carballo-Gonzalez’s girlfriend, was arrested Monday in Mexico and has since been extradited back to South Florida.
Authorities said the couple’s 5-month-old baby, who they took with them, was also found and is safe.
Carballo-Gonzalez remains on the run and is considered armed and dangerous, police said.
“Detectives are in the process of determining what was the motive and what led to the victim interacting with these fugitives,” Detective Angel Rodriguez said.
Cabrera has been booked into the Broward County Jail where she remains Tuesday morning on an out of county hold.
She faces charges of accessory after the fact and tampering with evidence.
Anyone with information about Carballo-Gonzalez’s whereabouts is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
