It came after several days of wet South Florida summer afternoons.

In Hollywood, Arthur Street near North 14th Avenue, on the east side of the city, was completely submerged.

Sammy DeMarco has lived there for 28 years and said he’s noticing the flooding issue become more frequent recently.

“It was already up to close to door there, it was about an inch (away),” he said. “Then you start sweating.”

At least one car was stalled out after a driver tried making through the deep floodwaters.

There are several lakes in the area, which is to the west of the intercoastal waterway, and that could have contributed to the flood event.

Water appeared to be receding as the day went by, and there were no reports of water intrusion at any homes in the area.
