MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — A man is facing 10 felony and two misdemeanor charges after a series of crimes that began at the well-known Tootsie’s Cabaret strip club in Miami Gardens and ended with him trying to run over police officers in the victim’s stolen car, according to an arrest report.

Miami Gardens police said Sedrick Travon Grady, 27, of Weston, was at the club, located at 150 NW 83rd St., just after 5:30 p.m. Saturday when he “became jealous” after seeing a woman he was “in a sexual relationship” with “talking to other men inside the nightclub.”

That led Grady to grab the woman and eventually rob her of her purse by yanking it off her, breaking the shoulder strap, an arrest report states.

Authorities said a Tootsie’s staff member alerted an off-duty detective working outside the club that Grady was running through the parking lot with the stolen purse.

The report states that Grady then ran to the victim’s vehicle, took out her car keys from the stolen purse and started the car.

Police said the uniformed detective got out of his car in an attempt to keep Grady from taking off, but was unsuccessful. Authorities said Grady threw the car into reverse and almost ran over two Tootsie’s security guards while fleeing.

The report states that Grady led the detective, and eventually other officers, on a chase through Miami Gardens, “running several red lights, stop signs and disregarding pedestrians.”

When he got near Hard Rock Stadium, hosting a University of Miami football game at the time, police said Grady “drove over traffic cones and even drove through an unauthorized barricaded area” in front of the stadium.

As police chased him, Grady hit a dead end on Northwest 186th Street, the report states. Police said he then rammed the detective’s vehicle while he was still inside.

The detective and two other officers got out of their vehicles to try to stop Grady, who then tried to run all three over, police said. According to the report, he hit the detective’s squad car again instead.

“The officers ordered him to exit his vehicle, but he refused, therefore, the officers began to try to break his window because he was refusing to open his driver door or his driver window,” the report states. “(Grady) eventually complied and opened the door of his vehicle, where he was taken into custody without further incident.”

Authorities said Grady made an admission before invoking his right to remain silent.

Online records show Grady, facing charges including strong-armed robbery, grand theft auto, fleeing and eluding and aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, remained in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as of Monday with a bond listed as “to be set.”
