Police charge Chaminade-Madonna educator with grand theft for alleged shoplifting incident

South Florida educator arrested in Broward County

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. — A South Florida educator is facing police charges.

According to Pembroke Pines police, 48-year-old Raiza Echemendia walked into the Macys at Pembroke Lakes Mall on Sunday and stole nearly $900 dollars-worth of clothes and shoes.

Echemendia is listed as the assistant head of school at Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory School in Hollywood.

A loss prevention officer stopped her outside of the store and police took her into custody, according to an arrest form.

Police booked Echemendia on a felony charge of grand theft.

Local 10 News reached out to Chaminade-Madonna for comment but have not heard back as of the time of this story’s publication.
