The incident occurred in a neighborhood along Washington Street, just west of South Dixie Highway.

The incident also damaged a power pole, forcing several people in the neighborhood to go without electricity while Florida, Power & Light crews work to repair it.

“My daughter started screaming -- she was very upset,” Nicholas Fontanez, who lives at the home, said.

According to the National Weather Service, no lightening was reported around the area at the time the accident happened.

Fontanez said he isn’t sure what else it could have been, other than just a freak accident.

His hope now is that the damage won’t cost an arm and a leg.

“Hoping it’s not too bad, hoping it’s very minimal,” he said. “The roof was done not too long ago. The ceiling inside was done less than a month ago. Outside of the roof was less than a year.”

Fontanez is also happy that his family is OK. He is expected to know more about the damage estimate once the tree trimmers get to his home and remove the large branch.
