PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. — A 15-year-old student was arrested Friday after police say he made electronic threats to kill other students at Charles W. Flanagan High School in Pembroke Pines.

Pembroke Pines police identified the student as Fidel Goico Jr., of Miramar.

They said he was taken into custody around 12:01 p.m. after a parent reported to the school resource officer that several students, including her child, had seen a threatening social media message depicting guns.

School administrators and the officer quickly identified Goico as the individual who posted the threat and detained him on campus, according to police.

Investigators said Goico is facing one felony charge of written or electronic threats to kill. They said he was later transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center.

“Threats made toward our local schools are not a joke and are fully investigated by our police department,” Pembroke Pines police said in a statement, urging parents to remind children about the severe consequences of making false or threatening reports.
