MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Breast Cancer Awareness Month is on the horizon, but it’s never too early to get the word out.
And that’s why hundreds of people made their way to the Miami Dade College North Campus Sunday morning for the ninth annual Pink Walk 5K.
The event is hosted by the Women’s Breast and Heart Initiative, an organization that’s been a part of the community for 20 years.
They started out by going door-to-door to inform women about early detection and let them know about free mammograms available.
In addition to the Pink Walk 5K, the organization has about six dozen additional events planned for all campuses within the Miami Dade College system.
