Fort Lauderdale Beach shooting leaves man hospitalized

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A man was rushed to the hospital after being shot at Fort Lauderdale Beach early Tuesday, authorities said.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue said crews responded around 2:40 a.m. and found a man with a gunshot wound.

They said he was transported as a trauma alert to the Broward Health Medical Center with serious injuries. His age or condition were not immediately available.

The incident remains under investigation by Fort Lauderdale police.

A Local 10 News crew at the scene saw a heavily damaged car that had crashed into a concrete wall outside a condo building.

Detectives were also seen photographing another location further south on A1A, and portions of the sidewalk and roadway were blocked off during the investigation.

Neighbors described waking up to the commotion.

“Someone told me there was a shooting this morning. The sidewalk is closed off (and) there’s police action all over the place,” a Fort Lauderdale resident told Local 10 News.

No other details about the shooting were immediately released.
