PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. — A person was taken to the hospital and a suspect is now in custody following reports of gunfire in Pembroke Pines late Tuesday morning.

Officers with the Pembroke Pines Police Department said they responded to the area of Northwest 78th Terrace and Third Street just before 11 a.m. after receiving reports of shots being fired.

They said at least one person was taken to a nearby hospital and the suspected shooter, who has not yet been identified, was taken into custody after attempting to flee the scene.

Authorities said it does not appear that any additional suspects are at large.

Pembroke Pines residents were asked to avoid the area while the investigation continues.
