WEST PARK, Fla. — Two men were injured early Wednesday morning in a shooting in West Park, the Broward Sheriff’s Office confirmed.
According to BSO spokeswoman Claudinne Caro, the shooting was reported just after 2 a.m. near the 3900 block of Southwest 58th Avenue.
5 p.m. report:
“I just heard, like, a bunch of gunshots,” Ethan Moreau, who lives nearby, said. “It just sounded like they wasted a whole mag -- just like ‘bop, bop, bop, bop, bop.’”
“I sprang up out of my sleep and my husband said it sounded like firecrackers. I said, ‘No, it’s not Christmas,’” another nearby resident, Jennifer Peart, said.
Caro said deputies found one victim at the scene and the second less than 2 miles away, near the 4100 block of Hallandale Beach Boulevard.
At the second location, a white BMW with its driver’s side door open was seen surrounded by crime scene tape.
Both men were transported to Memorial Regional Hospital by Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue with injuries listed as not life-threatening, Caro confirmed.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation by BSO Violent Crimes Unit detectives.
