PARKLAND, Fla. — Parkland’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School was “placed on secure status as a precautionary measure after law enforcement received a tip about a possible weapon on campus” on Wednesday, officials with Broward County Public Schools said.
“A thorough search of our school was conducted by the Broward Sheriff’s Office and nothing was found,“ a message to parents from the school’s principal said. ”After receiving the all-clear, we resumed our normal schedules.”
MSD was the site of a 2018 mass shooting that claimed the lives of 17 people.
“While the source of the call continues to be investigated, parents, please remind your students that every threat is taken seriously and will result in severe consequences,” the principal’s message read. “The safety and security of our students and staff are always our highest priorities.”
