HIGHLANDS COUNTY, Fla. — A lightning strike reportedly claimed the lives of two South Florida men and their dogs.
It happened earlier this week in Highlands County, northwest of Lake Okeechobee.
Local 10 News has learned that the two victims are from the Miami area.
According to the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office, the men and their dogs were on a hunting trip when they were killed sometime Monday evening.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission had been searching for the men after they did not return from their trip and officers located the men’s car parked in the area.
Authorities have yet to release the identities of the victims, but they were 38 and 31 years old, according to officials.
