Hollywood police surround synagogue after ‘swatting’ incident

'Swatting' call leads to police response at synagogue

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — A hoax call led Hollywood police to surround a synagogue on Tuesday, the eve of the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, Yom Kippur.

Video from Sky 10 showed numerous officers at Temple Beth El at 1351 S 14th Ave.

According to police, “the building was cleared and units did not find any threat.”

They described the incident as a “swatting call.”

Multiple Jewish institutions across the state have reportedly received similar calls, according to a message to parents from the temple’s school.
