Fort Lauderdale police investigate after multiple vehicles broke into

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Residents in a Fort Lauderdale community are upset after waking up Thursday to find their vehicles had been broken into.

It happened in the area of Northwest 68th Street and 28th Terrace.

Billy Johnson made the discovery early Thursday morning as he was heading into work, finding the back window on his Dodge Charger busted out and that someone had rummaged through his belongings on the inside.

“It hurts,” he said. “I took my time for this car, I worked hard for this car.”

Bridgette Mulleavey’s mini-van was also targeted by the vandalistic thieves.

“Hearing that multiple cars in the neighborhood got hit in one night is a little disturbing,” she said. “It’s definitely a little wake-up call because nothing like this has happened. The officer did say they didn’t make out with a lot, which was a good thing, so hopefully they don’t come back.”
