It happened Monday morning along the 3000 block of Northwest 204th Terrace in Miami Gardens.

According to officials, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue received a call regarding a possible shooting.

Miami Gardens police said officers arrived in response to a home invasion call in which three people entered a home, one of whom was armed with a rifle.

Police said the victim armed himself with a gun and when the subjects entered his bedroom, he opened fire, striking the subject with the rifle in the arm.

The other two subjects fled the scene, officials said, while the man who was shot was taken by first responders to Aventura Hospital as a trauma alert.

Neighbors told Local 10 News’ Terrell Forney they heard several gunshots prior to the arrival of law enforcement.

Officers were observed canvassing home in the neighborhood before appearing to focus their efforts on one particular home.

Police have not said if anyone has been arrested, or if they are still searching for the individuals who fled from the home.
