MARGATE, Fla. — Margate police are investigating a shooting that left a 15-year-old boy injured.

According to police, the shooting occurred Monday night near the intersection of Rock Island Road and Forest Boulevard.

Police said the victim was transported as a trauma alert to Broward Health Medical Center, where he was taken into surgery.

Circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear.

No other details were immediately released.
