MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A woman was critically injured Wednesday night when she was struck by a vehicle in a Miami-Dade County parking lot, authorities confirmed.
Around 8:43 p.m., Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel responded to a crash in the parking lot of a Walgreens at 28875 S. Dixie Highway.
First responders said they found a woman trapped under a vehicle. She was airlifted to Jackson South Medical Center in critical condition.
A Walgreens employee spoke to Local 10 News and said the woman was a patron of the store, that she had just left and that the driver who hit her was pulling in to park.
That employee said the woman was trapped under the vehicle for at least 30 minutes before first responders were able to free her.
The woman’s family, including her boyfriend and teenage daughter, showed up to the scene after the crash.
They told Local 10 News that she never returned home and wasn’t answering their calls.
The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, deputies said, adding that they do not expect to make any arrests in connection with the accident.
