‘I’m taking him’: Cops say woman tried to kidnap boy, claiming he was ‘wrong color’ for grandmother

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. — A Deerfield Beach woman faced a judge on Wednesday, one day after deputies arrested her after saying she tried to kidnap a 5-year-old boy from a gas station in the city.

According to an arrest report, Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies received a call just after 9:30 Tuesday morning about a kidnapping attempt at the Shell at 5 N. Federal Highway.

The report states that the boy’s grandmother had parked at the gas station after her SUV began smoking and she sought help.

Deputies said a stranger, later identified as Ivanna Nobile, came up to the vehicle, “handed (her) what appeared to be an Argentinian identification and told her that (the) person pictured was her aunt.”

The report states that the boy’s grandmother “did not pay her much mind” but then saw Nobile, 38, open the rear passenger’s side door where her grandson was sitting.

Deputies said she then grabbed the boy’s arm and said, “I’m taking him. This child is the wrong color to be with this woman.”

According to the report, multiple witnesses corroborated portions of the incident, saying they heard the boy’s grandmother screaming. They said surveillance footage additionally showed the incident.

Authorities said the boy had no visible injuries.

Facing charges of burglary and attempted kidnapping, a judge ordered that Nobile be held on a $60,000 bond.

BSO records show she was additionally jailed at the agency’s North Broward Bureau facility on an immigration hold.
