MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Authorities have announced a second arrest in a sexual battery case that occurred in Miami Beach earlier this year.

After initially arresting Geron Gjata earlier this week, Miami Beach police on Thursday said Frank Christian Sanders had also been taken into custody.

According to an arrest form, the victim in the case told police that she was out with Gjata, 34, a friend from Chicago who she had known for several years, at several bars and clubs back on April 2.

While enjoying their evening, authorities said the pair ran into Sanders, who invited them all back to his apartment.

The victim told police that while at Sanders’ apartment, the group continued to drink alcohol and also consumed cocaine.

Police said the victim later woken up by Sanders wearing no shirt and someone else’s shorts, and that Gjata was asleep on the couch.

After beginning to feel pain consistent with having sex, the victim contacted police and explained that the effects she was feeling was not consistent with cocaine, according to an arrest report.

Separately and on different dates, both Gjata and Sanders went to Miami Beach police headquarters to speak with investigators, though the majority of those conversations were redacted from their arrest reports.

Police said Sanders, 48, provided a voluntary DNA sample while Gjata did not.

Both men were arrested, Gjata on Tuesday and Sanders on Wednesday. Jail records show that both were taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on charges of sexual battery and sexual battery including multiple perpetrators.

As of Thursday morning, Gjata remains behind bars on a $4,000 bond, but Sanders was not listed as an inmate and his bond information is unclear at this time.
