MIAMI — Miami police announced the arrest of two men after an alleged armed robbery.

It happened Tuesday afternoon along the 3500 block of Northwest 11th Court in the city’s Allapattah neighborhood.

According to police, the victim was contacted on Instagram by Stanley Byrd, 22, of Miami Gardens, who said he was interested in buying two Cuban link jewelry sets that included a chain and bracelet. Police said Byrd set a time and place to meet the victims to complete the transaction.

Police said the victim brought a friend to help show the jewelry, and when they arrived, they saw Byrd and another person, later identified by authorities as Goldman Bennet, 20, of Miami Gardens.

After Byrd identified himself as the buyer, police said Byrd and Bennet tried on the jewelry and then Byrd told the victim, “I have the money in my backpack,” but instead of taking out cash, Goldman pulled a gold and black gun out of the bag.

According to an arrest form, Byrd then took a black gun from his waistband and both he and Bennet held the victims at gunpoint while Byrd went through the victim’s pockets and took his wallet, cell phone and Meta glasses before the two ran away.

The victim then called police from his friend’s phone and officers quickly responded and began searching the area for the suspects.

Police said they located both Byrd and Bennet at the Allapattah Metrorail station at 3501 NW 12th Ave.

Officers said they ordered both men to the ground, but Byrd took off running, dropping his backpack – which contained the gold and black gun that police later discovered had been stolen from Orlando – and tossing the smaller gun into the bushes before being taken into custody.

Police charged Byrd with multiple felonies and took him to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where his bond is listed as “to be set.”

Bennet, facing an armed robbery charge, also had a bond listed as “to be set.”
