Hollywood synagogue on precautionary lockdown as police search for suspect

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — A Broward County synagogue was placed on lockdown during an active police investigation.

It was happening on Thursday in the area of the 1300 block of Wiley Street in Hollywood.

According to police, officers were attempting to apprehend a suspect who subsequently took off running.

Authorities said that as a precaution, Temple Beth El, located at 1351 S. 14th Ave., was placed on lockdown and a perimeter was established.

A K-9 unit was called in to assist with the search, police said.

Authorities did not provide any additional information on the suspect nor what they were being sought for.
