MIAMI — A new type of boat racing is coming to Miami this weekend as the E1 Series makes its U.S. debut at Miami Marine Stadium, featuring high-speed, all-electric powerboats in what organizers call the first world championship designed for clean and quiet marine racing.

Qualifying begins Friday, with teams returning to the water Saturday for race day, all powered without gas or diesel.

Fans can watch from the shoreline throughout the weekend, with events wrapping up Sunday afternoon.

One of the teams, Team Brady, is owned by former NFL quarterback Tom Brady.

The team has partnered with the 4Ocean Foundation to support sustainability and environmental impact during the series.

Local 10 environmental advocate and anchor Louis Aguirre hosted a roundtable discussion with Brady Thursday evening, where he shared his excitement about the series and the team’s role in promoting clean energy in sports.

“It was very intriguing, and we have other partners involved who are very environmentally conscious,” said Brady.
