MARATHON, Fla. — A Marathon woman is facing a felony charge after deputies said she threw a knife at her boyfriend late Thursday afternoon, cutting him in the face.
An arrest report states that Danielle Nichole Banks, 34, was upset after seeing that he had made a $5 mobile payment to a “female friend.”
Deputies with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said the incident happened just before 5 p.m. at the couple’s trailer on 37th Street.
According to the MCSO arrest report, Banks “confronted” her boyfriend, “called him derogatory names and struck him multiple times in the mouth” after seeing the payment before grabbing the kitchen knife, throwing it overhand and hitting him near the eyes with the bladed end.
Deputies said Banks took off in a Hyundai and a U.S. Border Patrol agent followed her in an unmarked car and she eventually stopped underneath an apartment building along 39th Street.
An MCSO deputy saw Banks “attempting to hide by ducking down inside the vehicle” and detained her.
Authorities said Banks “initially stated she threw a plate into the sink and a shard may have struck” her boyfriend. She “later invoked her right to remain silent and declined to provide further details.”
Deputies arrested her on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor resisting arrest.
As of Friday morning, she was being held at MCSO’s Key West jail facility with no listed bond. She’s scheduled to be arraigned next Friday morning.
