MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A 30-year-old motorcyclist was arrested late Thursday night after authorities said he fired shots at a car in southwest Miami-Dade.
The shooting occurred around 11:30 p.m. near the 26000 block of South Dixie Highway in the Princeton area.
According to an arrest report the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the victim was driving a beige Toyota Corolla south on Dixie Highway when she attempted to pass a red Yamaha motorcycle.
She stopped at the Southwest 260th Street intersection, where Fabian Alejandro Lopez reportedly pulled up next to her and began yelling, the report stated.
When the light turned green, deputies said the victim drove past Lopez, who then approached her car and threatened to break the side mirrors, according to the report.
Deputies said the victim recorded the interaction on her cellphone. The victim claimed that Lopez spat in her face, made a U-turn, and drove north in the opposite direction.
The victim then followed him to a parking lot while trying to get his tag number. That’s when police said Lopez approached her car while holding a gun.
Fearing for her safety, the victim drove away and Lopez fired two shots, striking the rear passenger door of her car. The victim then fled to a nearby gas station and called 911, deputies said.
Deputes located Lopez a short time after and recovered a Glock 47 9mm while searching him.
During an interview with investigators, Lopez confirmed the incident, saying he spat at the car, not the driver, and that her driving “placed a fear in him that she was going to run him over,” the report stated.
Investigators said he also admitted to pulling a gun to scare the victim and firing two shots.
Jail records show Lopez is facing one count each of shooting or throwing a deadly missile and battery.
As of Friday afternoon, he was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where his bond was listed as “to be set.”
