MONROE COUNTY, Fla. — A 40-year-old man from Stock Island was arrested Wednesday after allegedly beating a woman and burning her hand during a domestic incident, authorities said.

Amado Cabrera was charged with aggravated battery and robbery by sudden snatching without a firearm or weapon.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a Roberta Street residence, where deputies said Cabrera struck the woman, leaving multiple bruises, and forced her hand onto a hot metal grill.

He also allegedly grabbed her cell phone and broke it as she tried to call 911.

No life-threatening injuries were reported.

According to authorities, Cabrera made statements about killing the victim. Warrants were obtained, and he was booked into jail.
