Fort Lauderdale event brings holiday joy to people with disabilities

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A special event in Fort Lauderdale brought smiles to the faces of people with disabilities on Sunday.

The Friendship Circle of Greater Fort Lauderdale hosted the free event on Las Olas Boulevard to spread holiday spirit.

Young people with disabilities cooked holiday treats from scratch, with a chef and opera singer — Chef Carlos from “America’s Got Talent” — giving a beaming performance to cheer them on.

At the end of the event, participants received free holiday gifts.

Chef Carlos said the day was all about spreading positivity in the world.

“They put a lot of love. Today I make 65 chefs to this world. And it’s so happy seeing this face, these faces that are great,” Chef Carlos De Antonis said.

The Friendship Circle provides more than 70 social programs for children and adults with disabilities.
