Thousands of toys, thousands of smiles at Mana Wynwood holiday giveaway

Inside the Mana Wynwood Convention Center, more than 5,000 toys filled the floor as the Little Lighthouse Foundation hosted its annual holiday toy distribution for underserved children.

Now in its 16th year, the event has grown significantly, serving more than 2,500 children bused in from over 120 shelters and after-school programs.

“It’s huge,” said Nicole Tate, the foundation’s program director. “I don’t think people realize how expensive not only toys are but everything that happens during the holidays.”

Children were greeted with cheers as they entered the winter-themed space, many leaving with new toys in hand. Parents said the event provided relief during a time when money is tight.

“I really appreciate it,” said Feltonisha Williams. “Money is tight.”

For families, the impact went beyond the gifts.

“Just to see them smile — that’s what it’s about,” said parent Aleasha Oliver.”

Organizers say that while the toys matter, the greatest gift is the joy shared by children and families during the holiday season.
