MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A suspect has been criminally charged five years after a woman was gunned down in northwest Miami-Dade, Local 10 learned Tuesday.
According to an arrest report from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, Alfonso Lamar, 34, of Miami, is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the Sept. 17, 2020, shooting.
Deputies said on that day, Lamar got out of a vehicle in the area of Northwest 21st Avenue and 80th Street and walked north toward the victim before pulling out a black Glock and shooting the victim multiple times, killing her.
Deputies said Lamar then fled south toward the vehicle he arrived in and fled the scene.
According to his arrest report, Lamar was arrested on Sept. 23, 2020, for an unrelated domestic disturbance in Miramar, at which time he was found to be in possession of a Glock 27 firearm.
According to the arrest report, Lamar was taken into custody again in April 2022 in connection with an unrelated homicide, and confessed to detectives that he was in possession of the Glock 27 on the night he was arrested in Miramar and on the day of the 2022 homicide.
Detectives said they later linked that gun to the casings found at the scene of the murder that occurred in northwest Miami-Dade, and cellphone records also revealed that Lamar was in close proximity to the scene at the time of the victim’s murder.
An “added arrest affidavit” was submitted for Lamar on Monday.
A motive for the killing remains unclear.
As of Tuesday morning, Lamar was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Online jail records listed his bond as “to be set” and show he also faces two counts of battery by a detainee on a visitor or other detainee.
