MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A 41-year-old man was arrested Tuesday on accusations that he carjacked another man at knife-point in northwest Miami-Dade.
According to an arrest report from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred just after 10 p.m. last Friday in the 4400 block of Northwest 30th Avenue.
The report states that the victim was sitting in his vehicle outside his home preparing to drive away when Yussel Estevez, of Miami, approached the driver’s side door and began threatening the victim with what appeared to be a knife.
Deputies said the victim told them that Estevez ordered him to get out of the car.
He said he was able to prevent Estevez from stabbing him, and then exited the vehicle through the front-passenger side.
According to the report, Estevez then got into the driver’s seat, started the vehicle and fled the scene, heading south.
The victim called 911 and a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) was issued by dispatchers with the description of the vehicle.
Deputies said Estevez was spotted in the victim’s vehicle Tuesday and was taken into custody after a short pursuit.
They said he provided detectives with a “full confession.”
Estevez was arrested on charges of armed robbery and armed burglary.
As of Wednesday morning, Estevez was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Online jail records listed his bond as “to be set.”
