MIAMI — Miami police on Saturday confirmed that an arrest has been made in connection with a fatal crash that they say occurred early Friday morning near Northwest Seventh Street and Northwest 30th Place.
Miami Police Officer Kiara Delva confirmed to Local 10 News that Jesus Andres Villalobos, 33, was arrest of charges of vehicular homicide in a reckless manner and driving without a license causing death or serious injury.
Newly released surveillance footage, along with police radio transmissions, shows the collision unfolding just after 4 a.m.
Police said a pickup truck sideswiped a Nissan Sentra, causing the Sentra’s driver to lose control and crash through a green metal gate, suffering multiple broken bones.
Moments later, investigators say the driver of a Ford F-250 collided head-on with a white Ford Crown Victoria.
They said the impact crushed the front end of the Crown Victoria.
Police said the driver of the Crown Victoria, a 79-year-old man who has not yet been identified, was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries.
Authorites confirmed that the driver of the Ford F-250 was also injured. Police initially delayed filing charges until he received medical clearance from Jackson Memorial Hospital.
No other details about the crash were immediately released.
As of Saturdayafternoon, Villalobos is being held on a $10,000 bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
