NORTH BAY VILLAGE, Fla. — A man registered as a “sexual violent predator” raped a 10-year-old boy while visiting South Florida, authorities said.
Miguel Angel Lloren, 55, of Sarasota, is accused of committing the rape on Monday night in North Bay Village. Records show he was convicted of two child sex crimes in the Florida Keys back in 1996 and was living in the island chain until at least 2017.
Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies said a relative of Lloren is dating the victim’s mother. According to an arrest report, he was staying with them and went into the boy’s bedroom to sexually assault him.
Deputies said the boy‘s mother and Lloren’s relative were both home at the time and heard the boy “yelling as he ran to their bedroom, followed by” Lloren.
Lloren, the report states, “was apprehended at the scene and provided a self-serving statement prior to invoking his right to an attorney.”
He was arrested on a charge of sexual battery on a minor by an adult and was being held without bond in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as of Tuesday afternoon.
