MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A Miami-Dade man was arrested in connection with a stabbing that deputies say left his neighbor seriously injured this past weekend.
Jail records show 32-year-old Ronald Mack is facing one count of first-degree attempted murder with a deadly weapon.
The incident occurred on Sunday at about 10:45 a.m. near the intersection of Northwest Seventh Avenue and Northwest 116th Terrace in the Pinewood neighborhood.
Deputies with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said the victim was leaving a 7-Eleven in the area and walking south along the east side of Northwest Seventh Avenue when Mack, who lives nearby, followed him.
They said the victim crossed to the west side of the street, and Mack followed, pulling out a knife and stabbing the victim approximately eight times, mostly in the chest.
The victim then ran northbound on Northwest Seventh Avenue as Mack continued to attack before fleeing west on Northwest 116th Street, the report stated.
Deputies on Tuesday said Mack was identified by the victim.
They later located Mack around 12:20 p.m. near his residence at the 700 block of Northwest 117th Street.
When deputies approached Mack, they he ran away and then jumped over several fences.
During the pursuit, a knife fell from his pocket, which authorities recovered. He was later found in a backyard on Northwest 117th Street and taken into custody without incident.
An arrest report states that Mack was read his Miranda rights, waived an attorney, and denied any involvement in the attack during an interview with investigators.
As of Wednesday, he is being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
A motive for the stabbing is unclear at this time.
