New images released of suspect truck in I-95 road rage shooting that left father paralyzed

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol investigators released new images of a vehicle believed to be connected to a road rage shooting that left a 57-year-old husband and father critically injured a week before Thanksgiving, as his family continues to wait for answers on Christmas Eve.

The shooting happened on Interstate 95 near the Ives Dairy Road northbound entrance ramp in Miami.

Troopers say the suspect was driving a lifted, late-model black Chevrolet Silverado with dark tinted windows and no chrome.

The victim, identified by his family as David, was shot in the chest during the incident. The bullet destroyed his right lung and became lodged in his spinal cord, leaving him paralyzed from the chest down, according to relatives.

David survived the initial hospitalization and has since been transferred to a rehabilitation center, but his recovery remains uncertain. His daughter said he currently has no feeling below his chest and is unable to walk.

The family says this holiday season has been especially painful. His daughter said there was no Christmas tree or celebration this year.

“He broke down during therapy because his kids are home alone,” she said.

Florida Highway Patrol also released photos of the victim’s vehicle, which show a shattered window from the shooting.

Authorities say the newly released image of the suspect’s vehicle is similar to one seen near the scene at the time of the shooting.

The family said they remain fearful for their safety and declined to show their faces publicly.

“I just don’t understand how you can do this and not think of someone having maybe kids,” the victim’s daughter said. “If you have kids, how would you feel?”

Despite the challenges, the family says they are holding onto hope. David’s 18-year-old child is now working full time to help support the household.

Investigators are urging anyone with information about the suspect vehicle or the person driving it to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.

A GoFundMe page has also been set up to help the family with medical and living expenses.
