HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. — Two Hallandale Beach police officers were injured on Sunday after an altercation with a suspect while responding to a traffic crash, authorities said.
Police said the incident occurred shortly after the first officer arrived at the scene near Northwest Seventh Street and Fourth Avenue. The situation quickly escalated into a physical confrontation, officials said.
Additional officers responded to assist, but not before a second officer was struck in the head. One officer was left with blood streaming down his face, police said.
Both officers were treated for their injuries and are in stable condition, authorities said.
The suspect was also treated and will be taken to jail once cleared by doctors.
No further details were immediately released.
